TEN THINGS I LOVE ABOUT YOU, CAPE TOWN.

I left my previous home Cape Town just over eight months ago. I had to count the months on my fingers because it actually just feels like yesterday and if I close my eyes I can still see ever thing and every picture in my old apartment and feel the wind on my skin when I stand on my balcony. I haven’t really missed it since until very recently. Maybe it is the horrid weather here in Hamburg or the fact that I really left a lot of good friends and amazing family. Or maybe it is that sometimes my reflection looks a bit sad when I look at myself in the mirror these days. In hindsight it feels like in South Africa I was always smiling though I do not that wasn’t so. Don’t get me wrong I am not sad, life is good here, and I left Cape Town for many valid reasons. I personally was shaking my head at those who couldn’t wait to get away to either chill on the beaches in the south or hike through the jungles up north. They just don’t get it, I thought. It actually took a lot not to shout at these people and demand to know: how can you not love Bangkok? What’s wrong with you? But in the end I decided that of course it was alright, different people like different places. So you don’t have to love Bangkok like I do, because that means I can have it all to myself. I will never forget when I came to Bangkok for the first time. My flight had been delayed from South Africa so I had missed my connection in Dubai and was now arriving at 2am. My first time in Asia was supposed to be all fun and excitement, I had been humming One Night in Bangkok …
